Time: February, 2024

Case: In 2023, a client expressed interest in using yellow-green glow in the dark powder to dye soccer balls. After our initial communication, we began producing the first samples. We learned that the client wanted to manufacture glow in the dark soccer balls, with the ball’s surface made from synthetic leather (PVC, PU). Since we had no previous experience with luminescent pigments, the client’s requirement was for the afterglow time to be extended, leading to the selection of the YG series products for this purpose.

Problem arising:After creating the samples, the client identified two main issues. Under normal lighting conditions, the client was dissatisfied with the speed of light absorption, and also, the durability of the soccer balls was not sufficient.

Analysis & Solutions: We recommend our latest generation of powder for 2024. The client should use our newly launched YGH series powder, which can quickly absorb weak light(LED light) while ensuring a long-lasting afterglow. Furthermore, we suggest that the client applies a coating of PU glue mixture on the ball, followed by a TPU coating on the soccer ball’s surface. These coatings can help secure the color and sudden appearance of the ball and prevent the pattern from being scratched.

The glow-in-the-dark soccer ball was not developed solely for its luminous effect but to add more selling points by ensuring the ball functions normally, thus enriching the merchant’s product line. It also expands the application of luminescent powder on synthetic leather.
